Each course starts with a classroom session to establish basic principles of driving techniques and the mechanics of how 4×4 vehicles work and operate. When we venture outside the classroom, your hands on driving experience will begin before taking on 3,000 acres of Green Mountain terrain. You’ll tackle everything from mud, rock, sand, ravines, and during the winter months, snow and ice along with our man-made obstacles and paved skid pad. Utility corporations, construction companies and many other heavy and light truck intensive businesses have used The 4×4 Center Driving School to teach their employees critical skills in accident avoidance, safety and control, defensive driving, off road safety techniques, vehicle recovery, and field maintenance. At the 4×4 Center Driving School, we cover all aspects of the vehicle and the environment. In the classroom our students will gain a basic understanding of the mechanics of how the vehicle works, some of the physics governing the relationship between the vehicle and the road (or lack thereof as the case may be) and general driving techniques and theory.

This course is designed specifically for workers for whom getting to the worksite can be as difficult as the job itself. Our students will progress methodically from theoretical discussions in the classroom to intensive hands-on off-road driving, and recovery experience. At the end of this class participants will be confident in navigating their work vehicle through unpredictable conditions to get to their worksite.
