Whether you have former driving experience or need to begin your driving career, we work with people from all walks of life. Toms Driving Academy is here to accommodate you and your specific stage of life!

We are an experienced, reliable , and privately-owned driving school that is perfect for any age group. We operate on the philosophy that each driving lesson should be individualized for the person learning to drive–which means teens, adults, and senior citizens all receive tailored driving instructions.

We have been instructing drivers since 1969, boasting over four decades of experience. Our caring and instructors are always flexible to meet your needs, offering you optimal driving support. You will receive the same driving instructor throughout the entire process, ensuring you feel comfortable and relaxed during your training.

We do give private driving lessons, and evaluations of driving skills.

We also have a non-ODOT program which many insurance companies accept for a discount.

Classroom & Private Driving Lessons $375

This is our NON-ODOT class (For ages 15 and older) The classroom portion of this program is on Sunday afternoons from 2-4 30 pm at our Hillsboro location and should be completed in 4 consecutive weeks. The driving portion is 3 – 2 hour drive sessions for a total of 6 driving hours. You can start the classroom any Sunday of your choice...

This is our NON-ODOT class (For ages 15 and older) The classroom portion of this program is on Sunday afternoons from 2-4 30 pm at our Hillsboro location and should be completed in 4 consecutive weeks. The driving portion is 3 – 2 hour drive sessions for a total of 6 driving hours. You can start the classroom any Sunday of your choice. This program goes year round except for major Holidays. DMV Requirements for this class Student must drive minimum of 100 hours if student is under 18 Student must be 16 and have their permit for 6 months before obtaining license Student must go to DMV and take computer test if under 18 All ages must go to DMV to take on-road drive test Cost of the program $375.00- Includes classroom and 6 hours of private drive lessons
Classroom and Shared Driving Lessons (ODOT Program) $375

ODOT Program Requirements To register for class, the student is required to have a valid instruction permit. Students are required to complete all coursework with an 80% or better Class is for students aged 15-17- any student older than 17 will pay an additional $210 Any student ages 15-17 who is on lunch assistance may be eligible to receive a $75 discount Attendance is mandatory at all class sessions/missed classes must be made up Student must have 10 hours of driving practice before first Driving Lesson Behind the wheel (BTW) lessons are scheduled at the parent meeting First BTW lesson must be between the 4th and 10th hour of class learning All lessons must be at least 7 days apart, typically they are much farther apart Student will receive the equivalent of the Oregon DMV skills test as a part of the program,which must be passed with an 80% Student will attend 30 hours of class time Student will attend 6 hours BTW lessons Student will attend 6 hours observation of another student driving Student will complete 5 hours of home guided BTW practice Entire course must be completed within 180 days from first day of class Must not turn 18 or obtain licence while attending ODOT class – additional $210 will be charged Certificate will be mailed to address on permit within 2 weeks of course completion Certificate is good for 2 years from completion date All ODOT classes are $375.00
Private Driving Lessons (No Classroom) $97.5

All drives are done in 1.5 hour or 2 hour sessions $97.50 for 1.5 hours $130.00 for 2 hours If you drive 6 hours we will give you a discounted price =$330.00 (6 or more hours would be $55.00 per hour) We can pick up and drop off at no additional charge (Depending on your location) Cancellation Notice – You must give at least a 48 hour notice to cancel a scheduled drive or you will be charged a $50.00..
