Virginia residents under 18 years of age must successfully complete a state-approved driver’s education program such as offered by DMV approved Aadvanced Driving School Richmond, VA, and have had a learner’s permit for at least nine months prior to testing for the driver’s license. A parent or guardian must certify that they have given the juvenile at least 45 hours of behind-the-wheel training, 15 of which must be after dark.The course consists of thirty-six (36) 50-minute periods (30 actual hours) of classroom study and seven (7) behind-the-wheel periods.Our program stresses defensive driving and vehicular safety. We teach the dangers of alcohol and drug usage while driving. We also go into detail about how aggressive and distracted driving can have disastrous results. Awareness of pedestrians, bicycles and motorcycles is an intricate part of our safety program. We also have sections on fuel efficiency, handicapped parking and organ and tissue donation. After successful completion of our program our instructor will administer the driving test and as appropriate, issue your temporary 6-month driver’s license. After we send your DTS-B in to DMV they will prepare your permanent license and send it to the court of jurisdiction. The courts will notify you of when to come to the licensing ceremony to receive the permanent license.

Those 18 and older and have never had any U. S. state-issued driver’s license, must hold a Virginia learner’s permit for at least 60 days or be able to prove completion of a Virginia-approved driver’s education program before testing for the driver’s license.We also offer a per-lesson fee of $60 for adults. If you have had no driving experience, we will work out a package plan for your needs at a lesser per-lesson rate. An adult wishing to waive the 60-day waiting period can complete the classroom and behind-the-wheel programs. After successful completion of our program, you will take a copy of your certificate to DMV for the issuance of your permanent driver’s license. Your AAdvanced Driving School instructor will give you the road test and issue the new DTS-D or you may go to DMV for the road test, if you prefer!

Announcing DRIVING FORCE our newly developed DMV-approved Re-examination curriculum for Richmond area drivers. 8-hr driver’s manual course for re-examination. Sorry this eight-hour course, DRIVING FORCE, is only for those 18 and older. As of July 1, 2016 juveniles will be allowed to take this 8-hour course, provided they have successfully completed the classroom portion of driver’s education. Please bring your Green Card, proof of completion.For those under 18, who have not completed the classroom portion, we offer the 36-period classroom re-examination course. We also offer the behind-the-wheel re-examination course. These courses are for those who fail either the written or driving test at DMV three times.

AAdvanced Driving School of Richmond, VA is licensed and approved by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles DMV of the Commonwealth of Virginia to perform Driver Education and Driver Improvement services to the general public. We are also a state certified SWaM vendor.Driver Improvement Clinics or driver improvement courses can be mandatory court ordered or voluntary. The courts or DMV may mandate that one take a driver improvement course because of traffic violations or point accumulation. Some people choose to take the classes to reduce DMV points by 5 (five) on their driving record and thereby reduce their insurance premiums.
