Driver's Education & Training The State of California and the DMV require that anyone under18 who wants a Driver's License must take a special training course, which is taught in two parts. The first part is Driver's Education, learning the laws and techniques that are necessary for safe driving. Driver's Education is available either in a classroom format, which is four 7 ½ hour sessions to meet the 30-hour DMV requirement, or a DMV-approved online program for home-study, which is also designed for 30-hours of learning. Different people learn better in different ways, so we offer both formats of Driver's Education. The second DMV requirement is for Behind-the-Wheel Driver Training, which includes a minimum of six hours actually driving with a professional driving instructor, taught in three 2-hour lessons. This specialized course can only be offered by DMV-licensed Driving Schools or secondary schools which have a qualified curriculum and certified teachers.

The Rehabilitation Program in our Driving School is staffed by specially-trained Instructors and therapists who have helped so many drivers with all types of disabilities to regain their driver’s license. With our years of experience, we have developed teaching techniques that make learning new driving habits easier. Our lessons are for drivers who have been cleared to drive following a medical evaluation and have a current drivers license or permit. We recommend teaching drivers in their own vehicle for familiarity, but we can also provide vehicles equipped with steering wheel knobs and an instructor brake pedal. Lessons are 1 ½ hours in duration and are scheduled at your convenience with enough advance notice. We instruct students in the proper way to drive with their new condition, and we instill good driving techniques to overcome old driving habits. Our Instructors carefully explain what will be involved and requested by DMV to successfully pass the re-test.
