James Island Driving School exists to help make you safe and confident behind the wheel. Safety always comes first! Our classes are fully certified by the SC-DMV and AAA with seasoned professional instructors who have served in the industry for years. We train in driver’s education for teens and adults, and defensive driving for individuals and businesses. We administer the Beginners Permit Test and the SCDMV Driving Test. Most insurance agencies will give you a discount for taking our comprehensive course!

The Basic Drivers Ed Course $435

One eight hour class and six hours of one-on-one driving instruction behind the wheel. The student will have three two-hour driving sessions. This is the minimum state requirement for drivers education and this is required for 15 & 16.
The Preferred Drivers Ed Course $530

One eight hour class and eight hours of one-on-one driving instruction behind the wheel. The student will have four two-hour driving sessions.
The Preferred Plus Drivers Ed Course $625

One eight hour class and ten hours of one-on-one driving instruction behind the wheel. The student will have five two-hour driving sessions. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) minimum recommendation.
Driving Test $50

We offer the SCDMV Driving Test to our students and the general public once all requirements have been met! Car rental available for an additional $50
