Pickwick Driver Education
Description

We were both born on the east coast where we lived and worked most of our lives. Tim grew up on the Gulf Coast, and Steve grew up on a lake in Maine. Maybe that’s why we both love the outdoors so much.

Tim grew up camping, first in tents, then a pop up, and finally a tiny trailer that was so small it didn’t even have a bathroom. We had to pump up the old Coleman stove and the gas lanterns with delicate filaments, but goodness did we ever have great times romping around the beaches, Swimming in Munson lake, and exploring the trails.

Steve didn’t camp at all, ever. But he grew up with wood fires in the fireplace in their snow-topped A-frame house 5 feet from the frigid lake nestled in the woods. When the lake wasn’t frozen, he and his brother would jump off the back deck railing into the freezing water. Yes, that was home.

Well, we grew up, went to college, and settled in the southeast, where we met. In 2007 we unexpectedly had the opportunity to move to the Pacific Coast: Los Angeles, Sausalito, and San Francisco. We immediately fell in love with the western United States.

Tim jokes that the Pacific Coast was the birthplace of his soul. But the fresh, cool air blasting onto that dramatic western coastline will make anyone’s heart soar!

We had to return to the east coast just a few years later, but the Pacific Coast had stolen our hearts. We knew that one day we would retire on the west coast.

At the end of 2019 we bought a Ram pickup truck we call Bunctious. As soon as our house sells in 2020, we plan to pack up everything and head west again. Then we plan on getting an Airstream and naming it Lollygag. So, we’ll be two retired guys, on a RamBunctious Lollygag, having the time of our lives just making it up as we go. That’s the idea anyway!

Every chance we get, we want to hit the road to go exploring. You see, for us, the west still feels like a new frontier full of adventure.
