CCS’s CDL Class A Tractor Trailer Refresher Program is designed for the student who already possesses a valid Commercial Driver License Class A who requires additional training for employment purposes. This course is open to residents and non-residents of the state of Tennessee. In this class, the focus is all on driver skills. Students will practice coupling and uncoupling, straight line backing, right offset backing, and 90 degree alley dock backing, on the range to help hone and refine their skills. Driving skills, shifting, highway travel, and safe driving procedures will be practiced and the student’s skills refined. This program includes Forty-Five (45) Contact Hours of training done over a period of Five (5) nine-hour days. Training includes Nine (9) hours of classroom instruction, Twelve (12) hours of practical Lab, Six (6) hours of Clinical practice and Eighteen (18) hours of driving and backing practice.

CCS’s CDL Class A Tractor Trailer Re-Entry Program is designed for the student who already possesses a valid Commercial Driver License Class A Permit and has had prior CDL-A Driving Experience or Training. The course requires self-certification of prior CDL-A Experience or Training. This course is open to residents and non-residents of the state of Tennessee. In this class, the focus is on preparation for the CDL Class A Exam. Students will practice the pre-trip inspection, coupling and uncoupling, straight line backing, right offset backing, and 90 degree alley dock backing on the range to help hone these skills. Driving skills, shifting, highway travel, and safe driving procedures will be practiced and the student’s existing skills refined. This program includes Forty-Five (45) Contact Hours of training done over a period of Five (5) nine-hour days plus Testing. Program consists of Twelve (12) hours of practical Lab, Nine (9) hours of Clinical practice and Twenty-Four (24) hours of driving and backing practice plus up to two (2) attempts to pass the CDL-A License Exam. This course includes No Classroom Instruction and will qualify only for Limited Job Placement Assistance.

CCS Truck Driving School’s Class A Commercial Driver License Skills Training Program is a fast-paced training program designed for individuals who already posses a valid Class A Learner’s Permit and are seeking their Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL). This course is open to residents and non-residents of the state of Tennessee. Classes are conducted over Eighteen (18) Nine (9) hour days Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM including Orientation Day and Testing Day. Final Testing will be scheduled after Day 15 and may be scheduled for Saturday. Actual class start dates will be scheduled to accommodate the needs of both the student and the school. The Cost of this Program is Four Thousand Three Hundred Dollars ($4,300-) Tuition plus Outside Provider Costs of Eighty Dollars ($80-) for a Drug Screen which must be provided through the offices of the school’s Medical Officer. Students must provide their Long Form D.O.T. Physical Form or a new D.O.T. physical can be provided through the offices of the school’s Medical Officer at an additional cost to the student of Forty Dollars ($40-). Other Outside Provider Costs to the student will be $5.00 for a copy of their Driving Record (MVR) and estimated CDL License Costs of $150.00. It is imperative students plan to attend every class on this schedule as failure to attend classes as scheduled will reduce the chances of passing the Commercial Driver License (CDL) exam. Classes can be started any day, Monday through Friday, but only after the school receives the “Negative” results of the student’s Drug Screen. To help the student obtain their Class A Commercial Driver License, our program provides practice geared toward helping the student pass the CDL Exam. Through an effective balance of backing and highway/street lessons, the student will practice basic backing maneuvers and highway driving to develop knowledge and skills needed to pass the skills portion of the CDL exam. Students will practice coupling and uncoupling, straight line backing, right offset backing, and 90 degree alley dock backing on the range. Urban driving, shifting, highway travel, traffic patterns, and safe driving procedures are taught on public roadways. Vehicle inspections will be performed on the yard. The training period is a total of 162 Contact Hours. The training provided includes Nine (9) hours of Classroom instruction for Orientation and Entry Level Driver Training, Nine (9) hours of Testing, Seventy-Two (72) hours of tractor trailer operations and backing, Thirty-Six (36) Hours Pre-trip Inspection and Thirty-Six (36) hours of practical road training specifically in preparation for the CDL exams. Testing will be provided after the fifteenth (15th) day of class. All necessary testing materials including the truck will be provided by CCS. Should the student fail to pass the final CDL test a second test will be scheduled at no additional charge to the student. Should the student fail to pass on the second attempt, if the student desires to continue, the student will need to take additional specialized training as recommended by the Examiner. The specialized training will be provided by CCS a cost to the student of $250.00 per day. After completion of the additional training a re-test will be scheduled at no additional cost to the student.

CCS Truck Driving School’s Entry Level Tractor Trailer Driver Training Program is a fast-paced training program designed for individuals seeking a Commercial Driver License Class A and entry level driver positions in the trucking industry. This course is open only to residents of the state of Tennessee. Classes are conducted in 22.5 nine-hour days Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. The training period is four weeks and two and a half days (4.5 weeks) long for a total of 202.5 Contact Hours. It is imperative students plan to attend every class on this schedule. Failure to attend classes as scheduled will reduce the chances of passing the Commercial Driver License exams. Classes begin on Mondays. In the classroom the student will be instructed on General Knowledge, Air Brakes, Combination Vehicles, Hazardous Materials, Defensive Driving Techniques and training requirements set forth in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations for entry-level driver training in accordance with 49 CFR 380.503. To help the student become a professional driver, our program provides practical experience by including an effective balance of backing and highway/street lessons. The student will practice basic backing maneuvers and highway driving to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes that will make the student safe, efficient, and ready for employment. Students will practice coupling and uncoupling, straight line backing, right offset backing, and 90 degree alley dock backing on the range. Urban driving, shifting, highway travel, traffic patterns, and safe driving procedures are taught on public roadways. Pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections will be performed on the yard. The next logical step for graduates of the Entry Level Tractor Trailer Driver Training Program is employment of the student with a motor carrier. The employment available to students upon completion of training at CCS will require the student to ride with a trainer driver for a period of time before being assigned their own truck. During this training period the student will receive wages as an employee of the carrier company. When the student completes the carrier company’s driver trainer program, the student will be finished with training and no longer be a student truck driver – they become a professional truck driver ready to ‘solo’ in their own company-assigned truck. The complete training includes (but is not limited to) 202.5 Contact Hours of training done over a period of 4.5 weeks, or twenty-two and a half (22.5) nine-hour days. Fifty four (54) hours of classroom instruction, Twenty-Four (24) hours of practical Lab, Ninety-Six (96) hours of tractor trailer operations, and Twenty-Four (24) hours preparation training for CDL exams is provided. Final CDL Exam time is four and a half (4.5) hours.
